Cool Animal of the Week #1- the Superb Lyrebird

The Superb Lyrebird (Menura navaehollandiae) is endemic to Australia, and is well known for it's striking ability to mimic sounds. The males create elaborate calls with the hopes of attracting a mate, and therefore incorporates the most bizarre sounds (well, for a bird). The following clip gives you a brief idea of just how well the Superb Lyrebird recreates the sounds it hears:



Yes, that's right, you heard it make the sound of a camera shutter, a car alarm and jackhammers. Just goes to show you how far reaching the human influence is in the world.
