- 23. Cool Animal of the Week #4- The Ozark Hellbender- The Ozark hell bender (Cryptobranchus alleganiensis bishopi) is an endangered salamander living northern Arkansas and southern Missouri.

- 30. Cool Animal Of The Week #5- This One- Eyed Frog- I found a really cool one-eyed green frog while on a trip to the Adirondacks in October 2010.

- 32. Cool Place Of The Week #5- The Crooked Forest in Poland- There is an odd forest of trees in the town of Gryfino, Poland.

- 35. An Update On The El Hierro Volcano- A few weeks ago, my "Cool Place Of The Week" post talked about the volcano erupting off the coast of El Hierro, which is part of the Canary Islands.
- 36. Musical Tesla Coils- I'm not too familiar with how Tesla coils work, but basically they conduct a lot of electricity (we're talking thousands of volts) through the air.

- 38. Cool Place Of The Week #6- Yellowstone National Park- Yellowstone National Park, located in northwestern Wyoming and parts of Idaho and Montana, is chock full of awesome things to see- waterfalls, a petrified forest, mountains, and diverse wildlife, to name a few.
- 39. Cool Animal of the Week #6- The Eastern Hognose Snake- The Eastern Hognose Snake (Heterodon platirhinos) has a large range throughout the southern United States, extending as far north as Massachusetts and Michigan.

- 41. St. John: A Fluctuating Ecosystem- It was two years ago exactly, that I was on the most amazing trip that I have taken thus far in my life- to the island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands to do research.
- 42. Cool Place of the Week #7- Mont Saint-Michel- The island of Mont Saint-Michel is located off the coast of Normandy, France, with a population of 41 as of 2006.
- 43. Epic Battle At Kruger Park- This is one of the most epic and awesome videos I have ever seen.
- 44. Cool Animal of the Week #7- Superb Bird of Paradise- The Superb Bird of Paradise (Lophorina superba) lives in the rain forests of New Guinea, and has one of the oddest (and in my opinon, funniest!) courtship dances and displays, as shown in the following video:
- 45. Baby Got Reef- I found out about this video when it was shown at the Beneath the Waves Film Festival at the 2010 Benthic Ecology Meeting.
- 46. An Unusual Bacterium- Mono Lake in California is not your traditional lake; it is in what's known as an endorheic basin, meaning that there is no outflow of water from the lake to the ocean.
47. Moving On Up In My Academic Career- Yesterday was the first day of the spring semester at Montclair State University! I had a busy day on campus meeting with some of my advisors and going to class.
